How to invest in Anthropic before an IPO
Until Anthropic lists on a public exchange, its shares can only be bought in private transactions. The main routes are:
- Private secondary market. Existing shareholders, such as employees and early investors, sell shares to new buyers, either directly on the company's capitalization table or through a special purpose vehicle (SPV). Limited partners of single-stock special purpose vehicles (SPVs) also sell their exposure to pre-IPO stocks in the secondary market. Some private companies require company approval for transfers.
- Pre-IPO funds offered through financial advisors. AG Dillon offers single-company pre-IPO funds to qualified clients through financial advisors, and directly to qualified clients. The minimum investment is $2,500. AG Dillon solicits offers from institutional broker and VC firm counterparties on each trade and completes counterparty due diligence on the best offer. AG Dillon has no relationship with any pre-IPO company.
- Talk to your financial advisor. Your advisor can review whether pre-IPO stock fits your portfolio, verify your qualified-client status and work with AG Dillon on allocation.

Anthropic in our Weekly Pre-IPO Market Insights
Our view on Anthropic
The views below are the opinions of AG Dillon, summarized from our Weekly Pre-IPO Stock Secondary Market Updates, May to September 2026. They are not statements of fact or investment advice.
In our view, compute has been Anthropic's defining constraint: it had the better model and the better product through much of 2025, then ran short of compute and ceded share to OpenAI. We think over-building is now the correct error to make, and we expect Anthropic to keep locking up chips, power and capacity on every front available to it. We do not think Anthropic needs the public markets to raise equity, since private capital is available in effectively unlimited size, and we see debt-market access as the more credible catalyst for a listing. In our opinion, Anthropic is an excellent company that is fully valued ahead of its IPO, and the more asymmetric pre-IPO opportunity is in AI infrastructure.
- Enterprise: Anthropic committed $1.5 billion through a banking and private equity consortium to accelerate AI adoption inside mid-market enterprises, which we view as part of a pivot by model providers from API distribution toward direct enterprise integration.
- Open source: we expect open-weight models to take a growing share of AI compute spend, and we see cheap open-weight models, particularly from Chinese labs, as the structural risk worth monitoring for frontier-lab pricing power. That is not a bearish call: we think Anthropic can cede share on a percentage basis while still posting accelerating absolute revenue growth.
- Context: we think Anthropic, OpenAI and Google will all win at the model layer, but we see context, not the model, as the scarce asset.

OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google will all win at the model layer, but context is the scarce asset, and the company that assembles a complete picture of an individual's work life may capture more value per dollar of compute than the labs themselves.
